FBI Leadership Critiques New York Times Article
FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche expressed their discontent on Monday regarding a New York Times article that suggested Blanche had “disparaged” Patel.
The article focuses on alleged tensions between Blanche and other Trump administration figures, particularly Attorney General Pam Bondi. However, reporters claimed that both Bondi and Blanche shared a mutual dislike for Patel.
Sources from within the administration described how the two officials bonded over their negative views of Patel, whom they see as more concerned with social media than his responsibilities. Reports indicated there were difficulties in communication between Patel and his superiors.
In response to the article, both Blanche and Patel dismissed its claims, labeling the publication as a “failure” and “rubbish.” Blanche made a lighthearted comment on social media, suggesting that perhaps they should reconsider their after-work hangouts due to the article’s portrayal.
“The New York Times is like a crash test dummy for journalism,” Patel added, criticizing the coverage.
Despite the backlash, a New York Times spokesperson defended their report, asserting confidence in the accuracy of the information sourced from current and former officials within the Justice Department.
Last week, Patel and Blanche appeared for an interview discussing President Trump’s Operation Midway Blitz, addressing crime and immigration in Chicago. During this time, Patel refuted claims regarding the potential arrest of former FBI Director James Comey.
“Mainstream media seems to focus on distractions,” Patel remarked, emphasizing their commitment to achieving tangible results within the legal system, beginning with upcoming court proceedings.
