Presidential Medal of Freedom to Be Awarded Posthumously to Charlie Kirk

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is set to award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to the late Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, on what would have been his 32nd birthday, this Tuesday afternoon.

The ceremony will take place in the East Room of the White House at 4 p.m. ET. Kirk was tragically killed on September 10, with Tyler Robinson, the suspected assailant, reportedly living with her transgender boyfriend. It’s worth noting that phrases like “Hey, fascist! Catch me!” were said to be carved into Robinson. Additionally, the bullet casings recovered from the scene in Utah Valley University bore lyrics from “Bella Ciao,” a song linked to the Antifa movement.

On September 11, just a day after Kirk’s death, President Trump announced his intention to posthumously present the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Kirk, who had a significant impact on encouraging young people to adopt conservative principles and Christian values.

“We will miss him dearly, but we believe Charlie’s voice and the courage he instilled in the hearts of countless people, especially young people, will live on,” President Trump remarked.

“I am pleased to announce that I will soon award Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom,” Trump continued.

The East Room event follows a memorial service for Kirk, held on September 21, which drew participants including Kirk’s widow, First Lady Erica Kirk, President Trump, various Cabinet officials, and friends and colleagues, all gathered at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

President Trump noted that Kirk was “violently murdered because he stood for liberty and justice, God, country, reason, and common sense.”

Trump further emphasized, “He was assassinated for living bravely, leading boldly, and arguing brilliantly without apology. He did what was right for our country.”

He described Kirk as a “martyr of American freedom,” asserting that Kirk will forever be remembered alongside America’s greatest patriots.

“I know I speak for everyone here today when I say Charlie Kirk will never be forgotten. History will never forget him. While Charlie is reunited with his Creator in heaven, his voice on earth will echo through generations, and his name will remain in the eternal annals of America’s greatest patriots,” President Trump concluded.
