Kirsten Storms Addresses Health Concerns
Kirsten Storms, known for her role in “General Hospital,” has shared that she recently had surgery to address a brain aneurysm. This news comes after her earlier surgery in 2021, when she underwent a procedure to remove a non-cancerous cyst that had been causing issues.
On Instagram, Storms explained that during a follow-up examination this year, a neurosurgeon found an aneurysm situated on the right side of her brain, which led to some understandably concerning feelings. She described feeling “pretty freaked out,” stressing how it felt like her brain was, in a way, “turning against me.”
After the discovery, she underwent surgery soon after. In her post, she detailed the procedure, mentioning how the doctor used a camera that had to travel through her leg and into her brain. She added a lighthearted note about the unusual path the camera had to take, humorously saying it went “through my armpits.” Due to the unique circumstances surrounding her aneurysm, the procedure didn’t progress as expected.
According to medical insights, a brain aneurysm is a bulge in a blood vessel that poses risks like leaking or bursting. One common method to treat it, known as endovascular coiling, involves guiding a catheter through an artery to deliver soft platinum coils to the aneurysm, helping to clot and prevent further blood flow.
Storms updated her followers about her surgery schedule, which is set to begin in the next couple of weeks. For now, she has chosen to stay with her best friend and former co-star, Emme Rylan, in St. Louis, as she feels a bit nervous about the upcoming procedure. Rylan was a supportive presence during Storms’ past recovery and they’ve taken up knitting while they wait for her surgery.
In March, Storms announced that she would be stepping away from “General Hospital” to relocate from Los Angeles to Nashville with her daughter, Harper, who is 11. She shared that her health challenges were a significant factor in this decision, stating, “Aneurysms can, apparently, be caused by stress.” She reflected on how scans revealed new cysts in her brain, indicating it was time to make some changes for the sake of her health.
Storms emphasized her desire for personal well-being and her daughter’s future as key motivators for the change in scenery. She noted, “For my own personal reasons, it was really important for me to no longer live in Los Angeles.”
Expressing gratitude, Storms mentioned her appreciation for those who have supported her through these tough times. She felt it was crucial to clarify some misinformation circulating about her hospitalization, urging that it’s not fair for people to speculate on such matters without knowing the facts. Despite the negativity, she conveyed her positivity by highlighting the supportive people around her and the projects they were creating together.
