Nancy Pelosi Confronted by Reporter Over January 6 Accountability

California Rep. Nancy Pelosi was seen getting visibly upset in a recent video when a reporter questioned her actions during the January 6 protests at the U.S. Capitol.

On Wednesday, as she left the Capitol, reporter Mike Lindell, known for “My Pillow,” approached her with pointed questions.

“Why do you come here and talk about Republican talking points as if you’re a serious journalist?” Pelosi retorted at one point.

“Senator Pelosi, are you concerned that the new committee on January 6th will hold you accountable?” asked Alison Steinberg, before diving into questions about her refusal to deploy the National Guard on that day.

Pelosi’s response was sharp: “Shut up!” she exclaimed. “I did not refuse to send in the National Guard. The president did not send them in,” she stated, shifting the focus back to the reporter’s motives.

Accusations against Pelosi have surfaced regarding her inaction during the Capitol protests, especially after footage emerged of her daughter discussing the matter on the same day.

“We are responsible, Terry. We had no accountability for what was going on there, and we should have,” Pelosi was heard saying in a 2024 recording released by HBO, referencing her chief of staff.

She expressed frustration about the chaos: “This is ridiculous. They’re already violating the first rule, and then they’re going to ask me, ‘Should I call the Capitol Police?'”

Her chief of staff stated he believed resources were sufficient to handle the protestors. However, Pelosi admitted to not ensuring they were fully prepared.

Critics have seized upon the footage to challenge Pelosi’s claims, arguing she deflects blame onto President Trump regarding the National Guard’s absence. In response, her spokesperson maintained that multiple independent fact-checks have discredited the idea that she ever planned anything sinister for January 6.

“Speaker Pelosi took action in response to the attack on the Capitol,” the spokesperson argued, emphasizing that she coordinated the defense and the National Guard’s deployment, while also highlighting that security at the Capitol is not her sole responsibility.

Interestingly, while President Trump had authorized the deployment of up to 20,000 National Guard troops for January 6, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser had turned down the offer just a day before the protests.

Lindell TV chimed in, mocking Pelosi’s response as one filled with insults rather than substance, asking what she might be trying to conceal.
