Ossoff Leads in Fundraising for 2026 Senate Race
Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff from Georgia has taken a notable lead in fundraising compared to his Republican opponent in the upcoming 2026 Senate race.
Between July and September, Ossoff raised approximately $12 million. Details of this figure will be reported to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) soon. This amount is considerably higher—over twice—as much as the total raised by the three leading Republican candidates during the same period.
“While Republicans are spending heavily to target Sen. Ossoff, our campaign is focused on creating a strong grassroots coalition for next November,” said Ellen Foster, Ossoff’s campaign manager. “We are incredibly thankful for our small donors who help fuel our efforts.”
In contrast, Republican Representative Mike Collins recorded about $1.7 million in fundraising for his Senate campaign during the same timeframe. Meanwhile, former football coach Derek Dooley reported raising $1.87 million for the third quarter of 2025.
Additionally, Congressman Buddy Carter noted a total of $939,579 raised by the end of September.
A spokesperson for Collins’ campaign expressed confidence, stating, “While Jon Ossoff is relying on substantial donations from outside Georgia, Collins boasts support from over 40,000 contributors across all 50 states and all counties in Georgia, positioning him well against Ossoff.”
The Carter campaign has not commented on this situation yet.
In statements from Dooley’s campaign, it was suggested that Ossoff shares funding sources with various high-profile Democrats, which they argue could alienate him from Georgia voters. Whitney, a spokesperson for Dooley, emphasized Dooley’s commitment to engaging directly with Georgia residents.
As of now, Donald Trump has not officially endorsed any candidate in the Georgia Senate race but mentioned recently that there are “very good people” in the running. Governor Brian Kemp has expressed support for Dooley, suggesting he may be the strongest candidate to take on Ossoff.
Ossoff is generally perceived as one of the more vulnerable Senate Democrats headed into the midterm elections in 2026. The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has begun running advertisements targeting him without endorsing a specific Republican opponent.
The Cook Political Report has identified the Georgia Senate race as significant, predicting that the state could be among the most expensive for campaigns by 2026.
