Brewers Fan Fired for Remarks at NLCS Game

A Milwaukee Brewers fan, Shannon Kobilalczyk, has lost her job following a racially charged incident during Game 2 of the National League Championship Series. Reports indicate that she told a Latino Dodgers supporter to “call ICE.” This was reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Kobilalczyk, previously employed at ManpowerGroup, has also stepped down from the board of directors of Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, according to the publication.

The situation came to light on Tuesday night when Ricardo Fossado, a business traveler from Los Angeles, began recording a video at the game and questioned why the Brewers fans were silent.

“Real men drink beer, hey,” Kobilalczyk was heard exclaiming, right before Fossado’s inquiry about the crowd’s demeanor.

“You know, call ICE,” she said, nudging a fellow Milwaukee fan.

“Call ICE,” Fossado echoed during the recording, affirming his American citizenship and asserting his military background as a veteran of two wars. “ICE won’t do anything to me. Good luck. Good luck. Good luck. Call me,” he added, sounding defiant.

Fossado, who identifies as Mexican American and served in the Navy, commented afterward that Kobilalczyk’s remarks were a mistake but didn’t believe the incident warranted her firing. He expressed pity for her, suggesting that “one mistake” shouldn’t define someone. “It was just hurt feelings; no one physically hurt anyone,” he noted in an interview.

Following the incident, Kobilalczyk reported Fossado to security and was subsequently removed from American Family Field. ManpowerGroup later released a statement confirming that after investigating the matter, Kobilalczyk is no longer with the company.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers took both games in Milwaukee, including a 5-1 win in Game 2, and are now heading to Los Angeles with the opportunity to advance further in the series.
