Spotify has permanently taken down Nick Fuentes’ “America First” podcast due to violations of its hate speech policies. However, the company clarified that Fuentes himself isn’t entirely banned from the platform.
This announcement follows an investigation by the Post that debunked rumors circulating on social media, which claimed that Fuentes had been wholly banned despite his show being quite popular.
A Spotify representative stated, “We removed this show in 2020 due to repeated rule violations,” further noting, “Our policies target the content that breaches our guidelines, not the creators. So, while this specific show and its reuploads are not permitted, Fuentes is still free to appear as a guest on other programs.”
Earlier this month, a fan of “America First” tried to upload one of the episodes, but Spotify’s moderators removed it. It seems that the service has already taken action against the show, citing previous policy violations.
Spotify’s guidelines prohibit content that promotes hatred against groups or individuals based on race or religion, and they also restrict users from re-uploading banned material or creating new accounts to circumvent these restrictions.
Even though his show has been removed from major platforms, Fuentes is still appearing on other podcasts. For example, he was featured recently on Dave Smith’s “Part of the Problem,” which remains accessible on Spotify.
The platform emphasized that Fuentes can still upload content, as long as it aligns with their rules.
This decision places Spotify alongside other significant platforms like Apple Podcasts and YouTube, which have distanced themselves from “America First” due to its extremist views and hate speech.
Fuentes, a far-right commentator known for his anti-Semitic rhetoric, has faced criticism from Spotify since 2020, particularly following his involvement in the 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville.
Fuentes couldn’t be reached for a response. Hailing from Chicago, he has made numerous inflammatory remarks over the years.
He’s been noted for promoting conspiracy theories about “Jewish control” over sectors like politics, media, and finance, outright denying the Holocaust, and advocating for what he describes as a “holy war” against Jews.
Fuentes has claimed the U.S. government is “occupied by Jews,” expressed support for a Catholic theocracy, and warned that Jews should “start being kind to people like us” or face violent repercussions.
In his broadcasts, he has suggested that people he deems “evil” deserve to be put to death, often intertwining anti-Semitic comments with admiration for figures like Adolf Hitler and outright Holocaust denial.
His statements have attracted significant backlash from Jewish organizations, political leaders, and civil rights groups, all condemning his incitement of violence and hatred.
