Soros funding drives 'No Kings' protest supported by Schumer and millions of others

No Kings Protests Funded by Soros Foundation

George Soros, the billionaire investor and prominent Democratic donor, is backing the upcoming “No Kings” protests. These protests are expected to attract a significant turnout, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and potentially tens of thousands of participants.

Soros, who founded the Open Society Foundations, recently provided a two-year $3 million grant to the organization Indivisible through the Open Society Action Fund. This funding is aimed at supporting social welfare activities as outlined on the Open Society Foundations’ website.

Indivisible is responsible for managing communications with participants for the “No Kings” protests, which will take place in Washington and other locations across the country.

Concerns Raised About Funding Sources

Crowd for Hire’s CEO has expressed concerns that the protests might attract paid agitators and foreign influences. Soros has reportedly donated over $32 billion to his foundation, which is chaired by his son Alex.

Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg co-lead Indivisible. Notably, Greenberg previously held a policy director position for a Virginia gubernatorial campaign led by Tom Perriello, who also had ties to the Open Society Foundations during his tenure as executive director.

Indivisible has received annual grants since its inception in 2017, amounting to a total of $7.61 million from the Open Society Foundations, according to available records.

While the latest grant report for 2024 is not yet accessible, previous contributions have raised eyebrows, especially given that the Tides Foundation connected to Indivisible has faced accusations of funding anti-Israel campus protests.

Senator Ted Cruz has publicly warned about Soros’ involvement in the “No Kings” protests, stating in an interview that there is substantial evidence linking Soros to the funding of these rallies, which he associates with potential riots across the nation. Cruz has also introduced legislation aimed at addressing funding for what he deems “violent” protests.

The protests are scheduled for October 18, with the message aimed at portraying former President Trump as a tyrannical leader. Schumer has announced his participation, framing it as a celebration of American values and encouraging peaceful demonstration.

The Communist Workers Union of America is also collaborating with the movement. Indivisible’s website highlights the importance of preparedness for protests, acknowledging their potential intensity while emphasizing the effectiveness of peaceful assembly and expression.
