Cleveland Radio Host’s Outburst Over Quarterback Trade
Tony Rizzo, a radio host in Cleveland, unexpectedly collapsed on Friday. Following a standout performance by Joe Flacco in his second game with the Bengals against the Steelers, Rizzo expressed his frustration with Browns GM Andrew Berry’s decision to trade the veteran quarterback.
“How can you do that, Andrew?” Rizzo exclaimed during “The Tony Rizzo Show.” “Why on earth would you trade him to a divisional rival for just a fifth-round pick? It’s really concerning. I want to know how long the owners are going to tolerate this nonsense?”
As Rizzo’s rant continued, he grew increasingly passionate, stating that fans were fed up with the actions of Cleveland owner Jimmy Haslam. “The fans deserve better. It feels like you’re more invested in your stadium than the football team, Jimmy. It’s just perception, but still, it matters,” he said, his voice beginning to strain.
He added, “Your offense is the worst in the league. This quarterback situation has been handled worse than I’ve ever seen. Honestly, even kids playing Madden could do better. This franchise is becoming a joke.”
Rizzo’s pointed criticisms came after Flacco threw for 342 yards and three touchdowns in the Bengals’ thrilling 33-31 victory over the Steelers the previous night. Flacco’s performance highlights the contrast with his previous struggles in Cleveland, where he had passed for only 815 yards, with six interceptions and just two touchdowns in four starts.
Flacco was traded to Cincinnati earlier this month after the Browns chose to bench him for rookie Dillon Gabriel.
The Browns currently sit at a disappointing 1-5 record, having lost their last three games, which leaves them at the bottom of the AFC North.
