NCAA Records Broken by Curry College Player

On Saturday, an impressive feat took place in NCAA Division III football—Curry College’s Monty Quinn achieved an unprecedented milestone. The running back ran for a staggering 522 yards and scored seven touchdowns on just 20 carries during a game against Nicholls College.

Remarkably, five of those touchdowns were on runs of 50 yards or more. Quinn’s performance set a record for the most rushing yards in a single game at any NCAA level.

Commenting on his achievement, Quinn expressed his gratitude, saying, “I’m just humbled and grateful. Breaking this record today is something I never imagined would happen. The O-line dominated the whole game, the receivers blocked like crazy, and the coaches put us in positions to make plays. This belongs to all of us. I just happen to be running the ball.”

Curry College’s head coach, Todd Parsons, called the accomplishment “nothing short of amazing.” Quinn is now the first player in history to rush for over 500 yards in a single game. The previous record for Division III was held by Kartel Brooks of Heidelberg, who rushed for 465 yards in 2013. Samaje Perine holds the Division I FBS record with 427 rushing yards, set in 2014.

Quinn, who previously played high school football in South Carolina, has had an outstanding season, with 1,450 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns in just six games. The Colonels, with a current record of 5-1, have scored a minimum of 50 points in each of their last four games.
