Reporter Observes Pro-Democrat Union 'Enrolling' Young People in Socialist Organizations at LA's 'No Kings' Protest

Protests and Union Involvement

During an appearance on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” independent journalist Anthony Cabassa recounted witnessing the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) actively engaging young people in an effort to “resist fascism” at the recent “No Kings” protests against President Donald Trump in Los Angeles.

This past Saturday, millions of demonstrators across major U.S. cities participated in protests, voicing their rejection of what they termed “Authoritarianism” and the president’s policies. Laura Ingraham noted to Cabassa that it seemed like the same individuals show up at protests repeatedly.

“You’re probably right,” Cabassa replied. “I’ve been documenting protests in Los Angeles since the George Floyd protests and have noticed many familiar faces, particularly from groups like the Democratic Socialists of America and the Party for Socialism and Liberation. SEIU was also present this Saturday.” Cabassa pointed out that SEIU is one of the largest labor unions in the country.

He further explained, “They were indeed recruiting for the Socialist Liberation Party and the Democratic Socialists of America. I shared on social media that they were targeting young people who expressed a desire to ‘resist fascism’ and argued that only socialism could effectively combat it. I wonder how SEIU members feel about their dues being used for this kind of recruitment.”

The House Education and Labor Committee has initiated an investigation into the SEIU following serious concerns about the hiring of a convicted child molester to lead one of its local chapters. Recently, Republican Congressman Tim Walberg raised questions regarding this hiring decision in a letter to the union.

The “No Kings” protests, which began in the summer, attracted thousands of participants in cities like Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and Houston. While Democrats characterized the protests as peaceful, there were instances where protesters expressed violent sentiments toward Trump and his administration.

In a particularly striking moment in Chicago, an activist showcased a piñata resembling President Trump, allowing onlookers, including children, to hit it, resulting in cheers from the crowd.

As of Monday, reports indicated that at least 34 protesters were arrested for various offenses, including terroristic threats and assault.

SEIU has yet to respond to requests for commentary regarding these events.
