Murder Charge Filed Against Mexican Beauty Queen in California Shooting
Nearly two years after a Mexican national was fatally shot in a California apartment complex parking lot, prosecutors have announced that a Mexican beauty queen is facing murder charges.
Vanessa Glora, aged 32, has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of Christian Espinoza Silver, who was gunned down by a BMW on February 17, 2024, as he entered the Palisade UTC garage in San Diego.
Another individual, a 39-year-old man who remains unidentified, was also wounded during the incident.
According to authorities, the suspect, dressed in a camouflage jacket and black pants, approached the victim’s vehicle before a barrage of gunfire erupted.
When police arrived, they discovered two men suffering from multiple gunshot injuries. Silver was found lying in the street, while the other man was located near his vehicle at the entrance of the parking garage.
Silver was transported to a nearby hospital but, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries. The other victim is reported to be in stable condition.
The motive for this violent ambush is still unclear, but officials have suggested it may be linked to ongoing turf battles between remnants of the Arellano Félix drug cartel, which is reportedly vying for control in Baja California.
Espinoza, also known as “El Chato,” was believed to have connections with Pablo Edwin Huerta Nuno, a boss in the Tijuana Plaza. He is suspected of facilitating significant narcotics distribution across California.
Gurrola has garnered a substantial following of 1.4 million on social media, and she was once a beauty queen in Sinaloa, Mexico. Reports indicate that she has pleaded not guilty to murder during her arraignment on October 13.
Currently, Glora is being held without bail at the Las Colinas Detention Center in Santee, with a court appearance set for November 19.
