Chris Tomlin Sees Signs of Spiritual Revival in America

Christian artist Chris Tomlin, who performed at the memorial service for Turning Point USA’s founder Charlie Kirk last month, has expressed that he is witnessing signs of a spiritual revival and genuine awakening in America. “I don’t play games anymore,” the renowned worship leader remarked.

“I’m feeling hungry, which I haven’t felt in a while,” Tomlin shared while on the red carpet at the GMA Dove Awards in Nashville, Tennessee. He emphasized that this current wave is unlike anything he has encountered in his extensive ministry career.

“People are coming hungry and wanting to connect with God. We don’t need to play games anymore. We feel like we’re in a real moment, an awakening,” he said, reflecting on the connection that he senses.

Tomlin notably performed for tens of thousands at the packed State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, during Kirk’s memorial service on September 21. He described that day as one of the most spiritually fulfilling experiences of his life.

His music, popular in churches globally, continues to resonate as he tours this fall. Tomlin spoke about how moved he was by the memorial ceremony. “What a wake-up call it was for our country to see Jesus preached so boldly throughout that day. It felt like change, and it felt like something people had been praying for,” he reflected.

He pinpointed a powerful moment during the service when Erica Kirk, Charlie’s widow, stood before the large crowd and forgave her husband’s assassin. “I think Erica’s words of forgiveness were heard around the world,” he said, highlighting the significance of her actions. “You can preach all you want, but when you see someone actually practicing it, that’s the Spirit of God.” This kind of forgiveness, he added, is a testament to a genuine relationship with God.

Continuing the conversation, Tomlin shared an interaction he had with an Uber driver before the memorial, which showcased the extensive impact of the event. “He said to me, ‘Hey, what happened to Charlie woke me up. He’s going to be baptized this Sunday,'” was how the driver described his transformation. Tomlin mused on how many others might feel similarly: “There’s no denying that. God is doing something.”

His band has also felt this shift in energy. “Every day we look at each other like, ‘Okay, what is God going to do tonight?'” Tomlin noted, acknowledging the unpredictability of how audiences are responding in unexpected, beautiful ways, adding that it seems people are coming not just for a show but in a desperate search for God.

Finally, Tomlin’s recent album, *The King Is Still the King*, is being shared across various platforms and streaming services, reflecting his ongoing dedication to his ministry.
