Bernie Sanders Critiques Kamala Harris’ Campaign Approach
Sen. Bernie Sanders recently expressed concerns about Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign during a podcast discussion, arguing that it lacks a focus on issues vital to working Americans.
He questioned the lack of transparency surrounding President Biden’s fitness for office, stating, “Why is there no primary and even a rushed primary when there are concerns about his ability to run? That’s a significant problem.” Host Tim Dillon noted how some believe that the podcast format has played a crucial role in informing the public, suggesting it has been beneficial for the country.
Sanders began by acknowledging his past rivalry with Harris in the 2020 race, mentioning that he later supported her in her 2024 campaign. However, he pointed out, “I believe her loss in that election was linked to the issue we discussed earlier: money in politics.” He continued, saying that Harris’s campaign didn’t adequately address the struggles of the working class, from healthcare to issues in the economy.
He emphasized that Harris’s campaign seemed disconnected from the pressing needs of everyday people. Sanders elaborated, stating that her failure to engage with these critical topics possibly contributed to Trump’s victory.
In an earlier conversation with CNN, Sanders also remarked on the influence of wealthy donors on Harris’s campaign, questioning how a presidential campaign could succeed without a clear agenda aimed at addressing the economic issues facing families.
He highlighted the current state of income and wealth inequality, mentioning that many people live paycheck to paycheck while the healthcare system remains flawed and inaccessible to many. “Shouldn’t we be discussing these matters?” he asked.
In her book, Harris reflected on advice Sanders gave her about concentrating on working-class interests upon taking over the presidency.
Sanders expressed his support for Biden, framing him as a crucial advocate for the working class and pushing to prioritize their needs beyond just specific issues like abortion.
Fox News Digital reached out to representatives for Harris, but did not receive an immediate reply.
