Kyle Singler Arrested in Oklahoma on Assault Charges

Former NBA player Kyle Singler was taken into custody this week in Oklahoma, facing allegations of assaulting his girlfriend, as various reports indicate.

According to local authorities, the police in Whitehead received a distress call from a woman claiming her live-in boyfriend, who previously played for the Thunder and Pistons, was pursuing her and had made threats involving her child, the child’s father.

Reports suggest that Singler was allegedly under the influence of drugs at the time. It’s said that he expressed a desire to engage in sexual activity with the woman, and when she refused, he made threats of rape, subsequently pushing her to the ground and attacking her.

Images from the scene reportedly showed the woman with bruises on her arms and marks on her face, as indicated by KFOR.

Last November, in a rather unusual social media video, Singler accused others of mistreating him and claimed he was living amid a “religious war.” He expressed feelings of being ignored and mentioned fearing for his life daily, arguing that the community perceives him as a source of trouble instead of someone trying to assist.

A spokesperson from the police department commented at that time, noting that they were aware of the video and mentioned that the NBA Players Association was in contact with Singler’s family.

As for his basketball career, Singler had a notable tenure at Duke University, earning the title of Most Valuable Player during the 2010 NCAA Tournament Final Four, and contributing to the Blue Devils’ national championship victory. He was picked in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft and played for six seasons in the league.
