Catalina Mancera Celebrates Unborn Child Amid Personal Tragedy
Catalina Mancera, the girlfriend of Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, recently held a baby shower to celebrate their unborn child. This event came after a difficult period marked by Kneeland’s suicide attempt in November.
Mancera took to Instagram on Sunday, sharing how essential her family has been during such a trying time. She posted photos from her baby shower in Pilot Point, Texas, expressing her gratitude for the support around her. “Words cannot explain how grateful I am for the people God has placed in my life,” she reflected. “During such a difficult season, the love and support surrounding me made everything feel a little brighter. I’m thankful for everyone who celebrated with me and my baby, and for those who couldn’t be there but showed their love from afar.”
She also expressed heartfelt appreciation to her family for organizing a lovely shower in Michigan, noting, “I will never forget their kindness, prayers, and support through all of this 🤍.”
Mancera, originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, looked stunning in a white dress, surrounded by family and friends at the event.
One of the photographs featured decorated cookies that read “Baby Kneeland” and “A little piece of heaven is coming.”
Previously, Mancera shared that she was expecting to give birth in June. She had expressed her dreams of starting a family in a December post that included ultrasound photos, saying, “I dreamed about you long before I knew you…” However, she also acknowledged her heartache, stating, “It hurts every moment I can’t share with him, and I want you to experience that love the same way I did.”
Kneeland and Mancera’s relationship began while they were students at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. Tragically, Kneeland, 24, died by suicide in November following a police pursuit in Dallas. According to reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety, he was discovered with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after expressing suicidal thoughts during the chase.
Audio from a 911 call revealed that Mancera had received a concerning message from Kneeland prior to the incident, indicating he was armed and had a history of mental health struggles.
Kneeland’s tragic passing came just two days after he played in a game against the Cardinals, where he participated in 17 snaps.
