With Halloween approaching, HBO is diving deeper into the universe of “It.”
The new prequel series, “It: Welcome to Derry,” is set to premiere tonight, October 22, on both HBO and the HBO Max streaming service.
This series comes from three of the creators behind the 2017 film “It” and its 2019 follow-up, “It: Chapter 2”: director Andy Muschietti (who takes the helm for the first four episodes), producer Barbara Muschietti, and co-producer Jason Fuchs.
So, what’s important to know about “It: Welcome to Derry”?
- When: Premieres October 26th at 9pm Eastern Time (New episodes airing every Sunday until December 14th)

The storyline focuses on a family relocating to Derry, Maine, as a local boy mysteriously disappears. Set in 1962, the show explores the origins of the terrifying shape-shifting creature known as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, played again by Bill Skarsgard, just like in the earlier films.
