Sidney Sweeney recently discussed her relationship with Glen Powell, although she denied any romantic involvement. She described their bond as “beautiful,” emphasizing, “Glen and I genuinely care about each other and have love and respect for each other.” They starred together in the 2023 romantic comedy “Anyone But You,” and in an interview with Variety published on Monday, she mentioned, “I love being with him, and I think people really saw a really beautiful pairing.”
Sweeney, 28, also addressed the speculation surrounding their relationship while promoting the film directed by Will Gluck. She mentioned that the media had exaggerated the situation: “Honestly, the press did it themselves. There was no leaning in, per se. Just standing next to each other was like, ‘We’re standing two inches apart!'” Interesting, right?
When asked about a possible sequel, Sweeney said she would be open to it, provided the “concept and script” were appealing. “We always embrace that,” she noted.
Despite being engaged to ex Jonathan Davino in 2023, Sweeney faced rumors about her chemistry with Powell, especially since he had recently broken up with Gigi Paris during filming. She expressed frustration over the speculation, admitting to Variety that “sometimes I feel defeated by it.” It’s tough, she added, to just watch without defending oneself.
Paris later revealed on the “Too Much” podcast that the rumors about Powell and Sweeney played a role in her decision to breakup with him. She spoke candidly about feeling “devastated” by the situation. “I had to stand up for myself,” she said, indicating she could no longer pretend to be okay with the ongoing rumors.
Additionally, she criticized Powell for not addressing the situation more openly, saying, “That’s all that had to be said. And it wasn’t said.” She implied that both he and Sweeney may have used the rumors for publicity.
In response to Paris’ comments, Powell addressed the topic in a GQ interview, acknowledging that everyone has their own perspective on the situation and that he accepts that.
