Daughter of Former Kentucky Sheriff Addresses Online Gossip

Lyla Stines, the 18-year-old daughter of a former sheriff in Kentucky, has spoken out against the rumors circulating about her father, who is accused of shooting and killing a local judge.

Taking to TikTok last week, she expressed frustration over the online speculation regarding her father’s actions when he allegedly barged into Judge Kevin Mullins’ courtroom in September 2024. Although she didn’t directly address the details of her father’s case, she urged people to stop spreading gossip.

In her TikTok video, Stines questioned the need for such chatter, stating, “Is there nothing to do but sit around and gossip?” She lamented that this behavior diminishes her pain by turning it into something trivial.

A year has passed since the unusual murder case shook her small town, and Lyla is understandably affected. Her father, Mickey Stines, maintains his innocence, despite the existence of video evidence showing him entering the judge’s office armed.

Authorities reported that surveillance footage captured the two men preparing to engage with something on their phones just before the shooting occurred. Shortly after the incident, Stines surrendered to police, claiming a conspiracy involving his wife and child.

Interestingly, the two men had a long-standing friendship and had shared lunch just hours before the shooting took place.

Mickey Stines is pursuing an insanity defense, and speculation continues, particularly around alleged tensions involving his wife and the murdered judge.

In a more troubling development, Tia Adams, a local woman, alleged that the judge ran a sexual exploitation ring out of his courtroom. She claimed that women were coerced into sexual favors in exchange for leniency and warned not to speak out about the situation.

Adams recounted experiences involving sex parties and stated that while it was consensual, the circumstances made it difficult for young women involved, leading to damaging consequences for their lives.

Another former jail official mentioned having heard disturbing stories about these parties as well.

In the wake of the murder, a variety of rumors have arisen, including speculation about potential affairs involving Mullins, Stines’ wife, or their 18-year-old daughter, Lina. Lina has called for a halt to the gossip.

“You’re taking our stories and turning them into entertainment and jokes,” she said in her video, which has gained significant traction online, receiving over 40,000 likes.

In a follow-up video, Stines expressed astonishment at the reactions to her initial post, particularly the rude comments about her appearance. Yet, she affirmed she wouldn’t be silent regarding the ongoing situation.

She remarked, “If you look up the definition of insanity, it’s doing the same thing over and over again and expecting change. The silence is over.”
