Justin Bieber Shares Insights on His Christian Faith

In a unique twist, Justin Bieber’s latest album wraps up with him recounting the first three chapters of Genesis in a casual style that lasts about eight minutes.

Recently, during a livestream, the 31-year-old singer opened up about his Christian beliefs. The session, shared on YouTube, features Bieber enjoying take-out fast food with his crew as he discusses various topics, including the Bible, God, and the essence of being human.

He expressed, “Now we can live freely and instead of focusing on sin, we can focus on our wonderful Savior, Jesus.” This statement reflects a recurring theme in his comments, focusing on the weight he feels regarding his responsibilities to others and to God, emphasizing a non-judgmental view on life.

Bieber stated, “It rains on the just and the unjust,” reiterating his perspective that hardships don’t discriminate. “Bad things happen to everyone, right? Bad things happen to good people, but good things happen to bad people… It’s a complicated reality for many to grasp.”

He went on to mention that he doesn’t want to consider himself superior to others, as one can’t predict the environments people will be born into.

Moral Accountability

The conversation naturally veered toward morality, where Bieber highlighted the importance of taking “ownership” as a man and the importance of avoiding sin. He referenced the Biblical teaching regarding lust, stating, “If you just think about a woman lustfully, you’re actually doing it. You’re committing adultery,” echoing a sentiment from Christ’s Sermon on the Mount. He added, “It’s the same thing. Even harboring anger towards someone is akin to murder.”

Finding Worth

Bieber also touched on the theme of God’s mercy, tying it closely to his personal spiritual struggles. “Perhaps someone out there is wrestling with self-worth, asking, ‘Am I deserving of love?’ Well, God says you are,” he noted. “I think He loved us very much.”

He passionately described Jesus’s humanity: “He came to this earth as a man, lived a sinless life, and ultimately went to the cross for us. Now we’re free to focus on our Savior instead of being bogged down by sin. I believe He’s the true king of the world.”

Beyond Transactions

As their discussion deepened, Bieber conveyed his desire for authenticity in his relationships, stating that he doesn’t want to engage in transactional interactions. “These days, everything feels like a transaction, where it’s all about quid pro quo. But that’s not rooted in love,” he pointed out.

When reflecting on how he learned about his faith, Bieber recalled that much of it was instilled in him by his mother, who rewarded him for memorizing Bible verses in his childhood. “I was just eager to get that gold star,” he said with enthusiasm.

He acknowledged not always remembering the exact source of certain passages. “It’s like God has placed them in my mind. The Bible says, ‘I will remind you of what I told you,’ and that’s what He does.”
