Mayor Eric Adams promises he will stay put at Denise Rich's Angel Ball

Surprise Guest at Charity Gala

During a security check at the charity gala, attendees were hoping for a surprise appearance from Beyoncé, but they instead welcomed Mayor Eric Adams.

Despite stepping back from the mayoral race, Adams told guests he intends to remain in New York.

At the 27th Annual Angel Ball hosted by Dennis Rich, Adams took the stage to proclaim that he was “not going anywhere,” which stirred some curiosity about his future plans after his recent re-election campaign ended.

“The greatest moment of my life was being mayor of the greatest city on earth,” he shared with the audience, which raised eyebrows.

He added, “There are so many question marks and uncertainties that remain in our city, but I would like you to change one question mark to an exclamation point: I am not going anywhere,” reassuring the somewhat puzzled crowd.

His commitment to ensuring that the city stays great left some guests wondering how he would accomplish this. “How is he going to do it? Where is he going to be?” one attendee joked.

Adams showed up unannounced at Rich’s gala once again. Initially, guests were hoping for a surprise from Beyoncé. Instead, they found themselves treated to remarks from the mayor.

The iconic singer’s mother, Tina Knowles, was honored for her charitable work at the event. Many of her close friends and family were in attendance, including her stylist Ty Hunter, publicist Yvette Noel Schur, and former Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams, alongside her daughter Blue Ivy.

Mary J. Blige and chef Alexander Smalls were also spotted at the gathering.

Though Beyoncé didn’t appear, guests received gift bags featuring her Cecred hair products. Additionally, her husband Jay-Z offered up bottles of Armand de Brignac’s Ace of Spades champagne, making quite the impression.

Gayle King hosted the charity event aimed at funding cancer research. The gala was founded by Rich in memory of his daughter Gabrielle, who passed away at 23 after battling advanced Hodgkin’s disease.

Regulars at the Angel Ball included figures like Clive Davis, Greg Schleifer, and various other notable attendees who came to support the cause and celebrate.

The evening saw Broadway star Patti LaBelle perform, bringing her classic hit “On My Own” to life, while Ja Rule wrapped up the performance lineup, highlighting a night filled with rich tributes and heartfelt engagements.
