Sen. Kennedy Critiques MSNBC Host’s Comments
On Tuesday night, Louisiana Republican Senator John Kennedy referred to MSNBC host Nicole Wallace’s response to a Democratic comparison of President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler as “stupid.”
This remark came after Wallace, during her podcast “The Best People,” interviewed Illinois Democratic Governor J.B. Pritzker, who had drawn parallels between Trump’s immigration policies and the Holocaust. Kennedy expressed his thoughts during a conversation with Fox News host Sean Hannity, saying he wanted to give Wallace the “benefit of the doubt,” but posited that she might have been under the influence at the time of her statements.
“Sean, I caught your monologue, and it was filled with various characters. Honestly, you can’t fix a fool with duct tape,” Kennedy remarked. He admitted not knowing Wallace well but recalled her time working in the Bush administration. He contended that while she might not be as extreme as some in the liberal media, that still felt like “faint praise”—comparable to being the “smartest person on ‘The View.’
Kennedy went on to suggest that Wallace should be assumed to have made her comments after having had a “morning beer.” He criticized Democrats for broadly accusing Trump of various offenses, saying they’ve labeled him a racist and a Nazi on numerous occasions.
Texas Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett has also drawn comparisons between Trump and Hitler, including comments related to the shopping app Temu.
Wallace, known for her critical stance on Trump, was previously a co-host of “The View” and frequently supported claims about Trump’s alleged collusion with Russia in the 2016 election.
Kennedy recently announced a book titled “How to Test an Idiot Negative: And Why Washington Never Will,” set to be released on October 7.
Wallace has not yet responded to a request for comment.
