Chili’s to Reinstate Skillet Queso Following Customer Outcry
Chili’s is backtracking on its recent menu changes after facing significant backlash from customers on social media. The chain introduced a new Southwest Queso on October 7, replacing the beloved Skillet Beef and White Skillet Queso.
Initially, the restaurant described the new dish as a blend of American and cheddar cheeses, infused with “bold, mouth-watering flavors” including fire-roasted green chiles, onions, and a hint of lime. Still, fans weren’t shy about expressing their disappointment, lamenting the removal of what many considered staple appetizers.
One frustrated diner vented on social media, declaring, “@Chilis, I don’t often complain, but taking Skillet Queso off the menu is just wrong.” This comment resonated with others, garnering nearly 8,000 likes.
Another customer shared their heartbreak, stating, “You won’t ever convince them that the new replacement is better.” It seems the uproar caught the attention of Chili’s, prompting a swift response.
Responding humorously on Instagram, Chili’s acknowledged the outcry, stating, “Okay, we hear you and we hate that you guys are mad at us.” The chain reassured customers that Skillet Queso would be making its return soon.
Many fans rushed to show their relief. “Best news I’ve ever heard!! I can go back!” exclaimed one enthusiastic user. Others echoed the sentiment, insisting that certain dishes were integral to the Chili’s experience, hinting that missteps could cause a loss of loyal customers.
Reflecting on the feedback, a spokesperson shared that they’re committed to bringing back Skillet Beef Queso while evaluating the demand for the White Skillet option. “A big part of Chili’s DNA is listening to our guests,” they stated, indicating that the decision to reintroduce menu items stemmed from customer loyalty.
However, Skillet Queso wasn’t the only casualty of the menu update. Other popular items, including Kids Pepperoni Pizza and Mini Molten desserts, faced removal as well, generating complaints and frustration among families who relied on these offerings for their children.
As the restaurant chain works to balance menu innovation with customer expectations, it’s clear that Chili’s values input from its patrons significantly—catering to requests from those who cherish their favorite dishes might just be what they need to keep diners satisfied.
