UnityPoint Health Advises Patients to Check Insurance Plans Before 2026

As the new year approaches, UnityPoint Health is urging patients to review their insurance plans before 2026 kicks in.

Recently, UnityPoint Health took over MercyOne Siouxland, including the hospital in Sioux City and its associated facilities.

In connection with this transition, UnityPoint Health St. Luke’s will accept several health insurance plans for former MercyOne patients:

  • Total Care Products from Ambetter Health, Centene Iowa
  • Partners Direct Health
  • Centivo
  • WellCare Medicare Advantage
  • Mount Carmel Medigold – Medicare Advantage
  • WellPoint – Medicare Advantage
  • Oscar

A representative from UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s mentioned that they have established bridging agreements with these insurance plans to prevent any interruptions in patient care.

According to the spokesperson, those enrolled in these plans will be able to receive care at UnityPoint Health hospitals and clinics until December 31, 2025. However, after January 1, 2026, these plans will no longer be accepted.

UnityPoint Health is reaching out to affected patients and is encouraging them to explore the insurance options available for the upcoming year.

UnityPoint Health recognizes the importance of the patient-provider relationship in the overall healthcare experience. Patients enrolled in the listed health insurance plans can see their care team at UnityPoint Health – Sioux City and keep their scheduled appointments through December 31, 2025. After January 1, 2026, if you remain in one of these plans, we advise reviewing your options and thinking about selecting an in-network plan with UnityPoint Health for 2026. For any questions, please reach out to your provider. We’re here to assist you with this transition.
