George Springer Set to Return for Game 6 of World Series

It looks like George Springer might make his comeback for Game 6 of the World Series. After sitting out the last couple of games due to a right oblique strain, Blue Jays manager John Schneider mentioned on Thursday that Springer is “checking everything out physically so far.” This implies he’s likely to be ready for the game scheduled for Friday night in Toronto.

Schneider added, “Tomorrow we just have to make sure he’s comfortable and confident so he can go out there and focus on the game, not just one at-bat.”

Earlier, Springer had to leave mid-at-bat during Game 3 after he adjusted his armpit while swinging. Interestingly, he almost appeared in Game 5 on Wednesday when the Blue Jays won decisively by 6-1, putting them just one win away from clinching the World Series. “He was right on the fence,” Schneider said regarding Springer’s status during that game. “I think it probably could have happened. I was really juggling what was best for him and what was best for the team, not just starting the game right away, but also how that game would play out.”

Springer warmed up by running in the outfield and took some practice swings, but ultimately the team decided to hold him out that night.

His return is bound to be significant for the Blue Jays. In the regular season, he posted impressive numbers, batting .309/.399/.560 with 32 home runs. This performance made him one of baseball’s standout hitters.

Springer’s success carried over into the postseason as well, where he hit four home runs and maintained a solid .932 OPS. Since finding themselves down 1-2, the Blue Jays have bounced back to win the last two games in his absence and now have two opportunities to secure the championship title at home.
