Rangers Show Resilience in Overtime Win

EDMONTON — The Rangers showcased their determination in a thrilling match.

JT Miller netted a goal just under three minutes into overtime on Thursday night, completing a comeback and sealing a 4-3 victory against the Oilers.

Having survived a daunting power play in overtime and late regulation, the Rangers celebrated their second consecutive win, improving their road trip record to 2-1.

They regained their footing during the third period, scoring twice to even the game at 3-3.

Braden Schneider played a crucial role, clearing a loose puck from Will Quill’s drive to the net, cutting Edmonton’s lead to just one.

In a key moment, Taylor Radish scored his fifth goal of the season at 12:04, deftly tipping the puck past Oilers’ goaltender Stuart Skinner to equalize.

Johnny Brodzinski, who had sat out as a healthy scratch multiple times this season, found the back of the net for the first time. He intercepted the puck at the blue line and executed a backhand goal on a breakaway.

However, the lead was short-lived as the Oilers responded quickly. Darnell Nurse found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1.

Edmonton dominated the second period, securing a 14-8 edge in shots and leading by two points as they entered the final stretch of the game.

Just as the Oilers’ power play concluded at 10:24 of that period, Matt Savoy scored his inaugural NHL goal, redirecting a rebound that bounced off his leg in front of the Rangers’ net.

Nurse later redirected a shot that initially seemed saved by Igor Shesterkin, but upon review, it was confirmed that the puck crossed the goal line, marking Nurse’s second goal and pushing the Rangers to a 3-1 deficit.

Despite the win, the Rangers struggled in 5-on-5 situations, falling short of decisiveness.

They also continued to grapple with special teams, marking their third win without a power play goal this season. Before Thursday’s matchup, the Blueshirts held the fifth-lowest power play percentage in the NHL at 14.3.

Though he went 0-for-2 against the Oilers, Brodzinski’s overall performance this season stands at 4-for-30.
