Chili’s Brings Back Skillet Queso Following Customer Outcry

After a wave of complaints from customers on social media, Chili’s has decided to reverse its earlier decision to eliminate a beloved dish. On October 7, the restaurant introduced a new Southwest Queso, but this meant two favorites—Skillet Beef and White Skillet Queso—were removed from the menu.

The chain had described the Southwest Queso as a mix of American and cheddar cheeses, featuring fire-roasted green chiles and onions, with a hint of lime for added zest. However, loyal customers were not happy with this change. Many expressed their frustration, stating that removing Skillet Queso was a significant mistake.

One user even went so far as to call it a “national disgrace,” receiving close to 8,000 likes on their post. Others echoed this sentiment, saying they couldn’t be convinced that the new option was an adequate substitute. “My heart is broken,” another customer lamented.

Fortunately for those heartbroken fans, the restaurant responded quickly. In a lighthearted Instagram post, Chili’s acknowledged the backlash: “We tried to make a skillet and you love skillets,” they commented.

They assured patrons, “Okay, we hear you, and we hate that you guys are mad at us. We are working to bring Skillet Queso back to Chili’s soon. Please stay tuned for a date.” The comments section lit up with happy responses as fans quickly forgave the chain, calling it a “marketing genius” move and expressing relief at the impending return of their favorite dish.

“You can’t take away Skillet Queso. It’s like a must-have for you guys,” one commenter noted. Another added, wistfully, “Please don’t do this to us again or we’ll be separated forever.”

A spokesperson for Chili’s confirmed that the Skillet Beef Queso would indeed return and encouraged customers to stay tuned for updates. The spokesperson stated, “Listening to our guests is a big part of Chili’s DNA. Hearing the love for our original Skillet Beef Queso from many of our long-term guests has shown us that there’s room for both types of queso.” The chain aims to offer a wide range of beloved items that customers expect.

But it seems that queso wasn’t the only casualty of the recent menu changes. Other items, like Kids Pepperoni Pizza and Mini Molten desserts, have also been removed, sparking outrage among some fans online. One parent remarked on Reddit, “Removing quesadillas means everything my son would eat is off the menu.” Others shared their thoughts, expressing how the mini molten dessert was perfect for sharing.

It seems that in the fast-paced world of restaurant menus, some favorites are sometimes lost, but it’s clear that customer feedback can still make a difference.
