Bill Maher Commends Trump’s Middle East Diplomacy
On a recent episode of the “Club Random” podcast, comedian Bill Maher expressed admiration for President Donald Trump’s unconventional approach to Middle East diplomacy.
In October, President Trump played a key role in initiating a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, which saw the release of hostages held by Hamas. Maher highlighted how Trump managed to support Israel while also earning respect from Arab nations that facilitated the deal.
He remarked, “He didn’t play the stupid games other presidents play. It’s not about being even with everyone. When it comes to values, you have to choose between life and death. He posed the question: ‘Where do you want to live? Ramallah or Tel Aviv?’ Of course, you would choose Tel Aviv.” Maher added that denying women their freedom is not aligned with shared values.
In Maher’s opinion, Trump’s stance was straightforward: “I’m on Israel’s side. Let’s see where this goes. I believe in democracy over theocracy.” He noted that both Jews and Arabs seem to have a unique appreciation for Trump’s approach, which he described as a “hat trick.” He highlighted the complexities of relations and said, “We won’t judge you. Did you perform harsh acts? That’s not my thing, but I won’t judge.”
Maher also reflected on President Joe Biden’s shifting stance towards Saudi Arabia. Although Biden had previously labeled Saudi Arabia a “pariah,” he later met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, acknowledging the necessity of engaging with the nation due to its counterbalance to Iran and its oil resources.
On October 8, Trump shared insights about the peace deal on Truth Social, noting that it was facilitated by Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye. He addressed the Israeli parliament and signed a peace agreement with Arab leaders, officially concluding the conflict with Hamas.
