Indiana Fever player Sophie Cunningham was recently seen at the NASCAR Cup Series championship race, where she took a moment to pose for a picture with actress Sydney Sweeney.

The event took place at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona. Cunningham, who had a stint with the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury before becoming part of the Fever, served as an honorary pace car driver. Meanwhile, Sweeney was there to promote her upcoming movie “Christie.”

Cunningham shared the photo of herself with Sweeney on social media, playfully noting, “One of us forgot our T-shirt at home,” in reference to Sweeney’s eye-catching sheer dress at a recent event. It’s funny how different the vibe was between the race and that gala appearance.

Sweeney also joined the Championship Four on stage, addressing a large crowd. She said, “Most days, this checkered flag means victory, but today it means so much more. A dream came true, a life changed, and a name I’ll never forget. In ‘Christie,’ I play a warrior—a warrior who refuses to quit. ‘Christie’ embodies grit and determination, the same spirit it takes to make it to Championship 4.”

She added, “So to our future champions, remember what this flag stands for: You’re not just a driver; you’re a NASCAR champion.”

In the end, Kyle Larson won his second Cup Series championship, edging out Denny Hamlin.

Currently, Cunningham is recovering from a knee injury that ended her season early. She, along with her teammates, is awaiting updates on ongoing negotiations between the players’ union and the league regarding a new collective bargaining agreement.

As for Sweeney’s film, it’s set to hit theaters later this week.
