The U.S. Coast Guard has reportedly taken custody of a yacht owned by Brian Hooker amid an ongoing investigation into the disappearance of his wife, who allegedly fell from a dinghy in the Bahamas.
According to Brian Hooker, his wife fell off the dinghy after they left Hope Town around 7:30 p.m. on April 4. He mentioned that both Lynette and the ignition key fell overboard. Local authorities indicated that he reached the Marsh Harbor marina around 4 a.m. on April 5, about eight hours after his wife’s fall.
Insiders have confirmed that the couple’s sailboat, named “Soulmate,” was seized by the U.S. Coast Guard while it was en route to the United States. Reports suggest that the investigation into Lynette Hooker’s disappearance is ramping up, though Brian Hooker has yet to face any criminal charges.
The Coast Guard has refrained from commenting, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
This incident follows a request by the Coast Guard for public assistance in locating another yacht that had been anchored near the Hookers’ boat.
In the immediate aftermath of his wife’s disappearance, Brian was detained by Bahamian authorities for five days but was not charged with any crime. His lawyers from Michigan have previously asserted that he should be given the benefit of the doubt regarding the situation.
Friend Crystal Marie Houser urged people to be kind in their judgment of Brian, suggesting that everyone copes with distress in their own way. She emphasized the importance of treating him as one would want to be treated.
While some speculate about Brian Hooker’s future in the Bahamas, he has, according to a Bahamian lawyer, left the island to care for his “seriously ill” mother.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Brian expressed his devastation over Lynette’s disappearance, saying, “I am heartbroken by the recent boating accident in which my beloved Lynette fell from a small dinghy near Elbow Cay in the Bahamas in unpredictable seas and high winds.” He added that despite their desperate attempts, external conditions have made it difficult to reach her, and that searching for her remains his primary focus.
