Jon Stewart: Trump has stopped defending 'random foreign aid' and 'let them eat cake appearance'

Jon Stewart criticized President Trump, claiming he only puts in effort for his donors and close associates, rather than genuinely addressing issues like foreign aid or public welfare.

“It’s a bizarre world we live in,” Stewart remarked while hosting “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central.

The comedian noted that Trump appears to disregard the justification for foreign aid and is instead focused on superficial optics, stating it’s all “because he loves us.”

Stewart pointed out the irony in Trump’s recent plan to boost imports of Argentine beef amidst rising meat prices in the U.S.

He also showcased footage from a “Great Gatsby”-themed Halloween party at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, highlighting that this event was happening as food stamp benefits were about to expire for millions amid a federal government shutdown.

“The Great Gatsby” serves as a cautionary tale,” he remarked, referencing F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel.

Stewart emphasized that in tough times, leaders typically at least pretend to empathize with those they’re meant to represent, but Trump seems to do the opposite.

“He’s making it clear that while struggling Americans face rising premiums and potential loss of food aid, he is busy building a lavish banquet hall,” Stewart quipped, eliciting applause from the audience.

Currently, a $300 million ballroom is under construction at the White House, funded by private donations, with plans to significantly alter the east wing.

Stewart also took aim at Trump for frequently posting about the newly renovated Lincoln bathroom on social media.

He joked about the increasing electricity bills and whether guests at the ballroom would enjoy staying in luxury.

Additionally, Stewart disputed claims that House Speaker Mike Johnson described Trump as a “big-hearted person.”

He pointed out that for those close to Trump—friends, major donors, or those who engaged in questionable activities—he works hard, but for everyone else, they remain on the outside looking in.

“If you’re one of those favored few, life is great. But for the rest of us, it’s a mystery what views we’ll be left with,” he concluded, showing a picture of Lincoln’s bathroom.
