Marvin Harrison Jr. Discusses His Draft Position
Marvin Harrison Jr. spoke on Monday night about being the fourth overall pick in last year’s draft.
The Arizona Cardinals’ second-year wide receiver achieved a career-best with seven receptions, one of which was a touchdown. He also recorded 96 receiving yards, marking the fourth-highest total in his first 25 games.
However, there’s a catch: Kyler Murray hasn’t played since October 5, which meant backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett was responsible for that performance.
The Cardinals managed to secure a 27-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys thanks in part to Harrison’s contributions, but social media reactions towards Murray were less than favorable throughout the game.
Harrison had been viewed as the premier wide receiver in a draft class that included Malik Nabors and Roma Odunze. Interestingly, both Nabors and Odunze have since surpassed him in various rankings.
It’s worth mentioning that Harrison had struggled in his initial two games with Brissett, catching only four passes for 90 yards. Yet, it seems the Cardinals might have found some synergy with standout tight end Trey McBride, who has grabbed four touchdowns in the three games Brissett has started. In contrast, McBride only managed two in Murray’s last 21 starts.
Despite the quarterback situation, the Cardinals announced that if Murray returns this season, he will remain the starter. Still, Brissett has certainly made a strong case during his time on the field.
Over three starts, Brissett accumulated 860 passing yards, completed 65.8 percent of his attempts, and tallied six touchdowns against just one interception.
