During a recent matchup, a Cardinals player didn’t hold back when it came to confronting Cowboys running back Javonte Williams after he fumbled at a crucial moment, contributing to their loss on “Monday Night Football” in Dallas.
With Arizona leading by ten points and under five minutes left, Dak Prescott threw to Williams near the sideline. As he pushed for extra yards, linebacker Cody Simon made a decisive play, forcing a fumble that Hakeem Davis-Gaither recovered, sealing a 27-17 victory for the Cardinals.
Amid the celebration for reclaiming possession and clinching the win, an Arizona player was heard exclaiming, “Javonte’s a bitch,” a comment caught by ESPN’s hot mic.
This marked Williams’ second fumble of the season. He had previously enjoyed a solid season in Dallas after spending the first four years of his career with the Broncos.
On Monday, Williams recorded 83 rushing yards, bringing his total to nine touchdowns over the past nine weeks, placing him fourth in the league with 716 rushing yards.
After the game, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed uncertainty about whether he should have called for an advance prior to the fumble, mentioning that he was informed he couldn’t object to one.
Despite an effort from the Cardinals, the game saw them briefly regain control before Prescott, with a 24-of-39 passing record for 250 yards, threw an interception on the Cowboys’ last drive, which ultimately decided the outcome.
Dallas, now sitting at 3-5-1, has lost three of its last four games. Owner Jerry Jones is reportedly looking to enhance the roster ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
In the meantime, the Cardinals, who improved to 3-5 without their quarterback Kyler Murray, are currently trailing three games behind their division rivals as they prepare to face Seattle this Sunday.
