Former President Joe Biden was seen dining with ex-Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin in Northern Virginia on Sunday evening.
Biden, who is 82, was escorted by Secret Service agents as he ambled across the outdoor patio of Carbonara, an Italian restaurant in Arlington. Footage of this outing circulated on social media.
Upon his arrival, some patrons reacted with surprise, displaying their astonishment with gasps and applause as he entered the restaurant.
Local news outlet WUSA9 reported that Biden was seated with Austin and an unnamed woman, enjoying dishes like bacon-wrapped shrimp, capellini pasta, and tiramisu.
Just last month, Biden completed several weeks of radiation therapy for stage 4 prostate cancer at a medical facility in Philadelphia.
Approaching his 83rd birthday later this month, Biden was diagnosed in May with prostate cancer that had unfortunately metastasized to his bones.
He appeared noticeably frail while making his way to dinner, resembling his first public appearance after the announcement of his radiation treatment.
Observers pointed out his unsteady gait and limited arm movement, which were noted by conservative social media figure Paul Cipla, who commented on Biden’s recent outings.
One social media user remarked that anyone suggesting Biden could serve another four years ought to be ridiculed. This sentiment echoes a broader skepticism regarding his fitness for office.
In the video from his entrance, Biden stumbled slightly, leading one observer to call him “the very definition of feeble” and note how close he came to falling.
Rich Staropoli, a former Secret Service official, expressed frustration over the use of taxpayer resources for Biden’s security, suggesting he would be better off with a nurse than the Secret Service.
