Erica Kirk Discusses Life After Tragedy in First Interview
In her first TV conversation following her husband’s assassination, Turning Point USA CEO Erica Kirk spoke candidly with Jesse Watters from Fox News about navigating life after such a profound loss, emphasizing her decision not to succumb to fear.
“I believe that my time will come when I’ve completed my mission,” Kirk said, reflecting on her feelings about safety. She pointed out that both she and her late husband, Charlie, didn’t let fear dictate their lives. “If we lived in fear, we wouldn’t get anything done,” she noted, revealing her determination to move forward.
After Charlie’s assassination on September 10, Kirk’s life changed dramatically. She recounted moments spent at home with her young daughter, highlighting the tough conversations that have arisen since the tragedy. “My daughter keeps asking where Charlie is. I told her, ‘If you want to reach Dad, just look up and talk to him. He’s in heaven,’” she shared, depicting a heartfelt moment of vulnerability.
Kirk also addressed some of her concerns regarding the public eye, the upcoming trial for her husband’s alleged murderer, and comments made by Jimmy Kimmel, who jokingly linked the assassin to a “MAGA gang” while mocking former President Trump’s response. Her response to Kimmel revealed her resilience, and she voiced a desire for acknowledgment, asking, “Do you want Jimmy to apologize?”
“I conveyed to our team, ‘Thank you for reaching out. This isn’t our mess. If you genuinely feel regret, please express it. If not, I don’t need insincerity,'” she detailed, demonstrating the tangled feelings surrounding public reactions to her loss.
Kirk is advocating for transparency during her husband’s murder trial, urging the judge to allow cameras in the courtroom. “The case has been public since the beginning, so why not allow everyone to see what unfolds?” she argued, emphasizing the long-term implications of this trial.
Next week, on Thursday, Kirk will receive the inaugural Charlie Kirk Legacy Award at the 7th Annual Fox Nation Patriot Awards in New York. The conversation with Watters, rich in emotion and candid insights, promises to shed light on Kirk’s ongoing journey following the tragic events of her life.
