MAINE – Anthem and Northern Light Health Agreement

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maine has finalized a deal with Northern Light Health after over a month of discussions. This new contract means that members of Anthem’s health plans—including those with employer-sponsored plans and Medicare Advantage—will now have in-network access to all facilities and services offered by Northern Light Health.

This agreement specifically benefits Anthem members across Maine who rely on Northern Light Health for their healthcare needs.

While the specifics of the contract remain under wraps, Northern Light Health’s CEO shared a statement emphasizing that the agreement will allow patients to continue receiving quality care from trusted providers.

Similarly, the chairman of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield expressed satisfaction with the outcome, reinforcing their commitment to enhance the health of communities across Maine.

This multi-year agreement is retroactively effective from November 1, 2025, impacting approximately 30,000 Anthem insurance holders in the state.

In statements provided to WABI, both organizations highlighted their dedication to patient care and community health, underscoring the importance of the services offered by Northern Light Health.

Anthem affirmed their promise to maintain accessible healthcare for Maine residents at affordable prices, while Northern Light Health reiterated its long-standing role in community care.
