Hyatt’s New Benefits for Sapphire Cardholders
Hyatt has long been a favorite among hotel chains, especially with its World of Hyatt loyalty program that boasts over 60 million members. The program still relies on a fixed rewards chart, which makes redeeming points quite appealing.
For quite some time now, Hyatt has been in partnership with Chase, and they’re strengthening this relationship with some noteworthy updates.
Starting mid-next year, select high-spending Sapphire cardholders will qualify for the World of Hyatt Explorer status. Additionally, Hyatt plans to expand its property offerings. This partnership is expected to bring more options to their existing card portfolio.
Here are the key points to keep in mind:
Free Hyatt Status for Sapphire Cardholders
From around mid-2026, although an exact date isn’t specified, cardholders of the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and Chase Sapphire Reserve℠ for Business can earn Explorist status by meeting specific annual spending thresholds. Here’s what you need to know:
- Sapphire Reserve cardholders need to spend a minimum of $75,000 in a calendar year.
- Sapphire Reserve for Business cardholders must spend at least $120,000 in a calendar year.
Once you meet these spending criteria, the Explorist status is yours until the end of the following year. So, if you hit those spending levels in 2026, you’ll enjoy status benefits until the end of 2027.
The Explorer status is Hyatt’s mid-level tier, sitting between the basic Discover status and the elite Globalist status. Achieving this status requires either a stay of 30 nights or earning 50,000 Base Points, granting perks like:
- 2 PM late check-out (subject to availability)
- Room upgrades (subject to availability)
- 20% bonus points
It’s worth noting that these spending limits are consistent with what’s required to access other card benefits. That said, if you’re not sure you can hit those numbers, it might be more beneficial to earn the status organically through actual stays at Hyatt hotels.
New Hyatt Properties on The Edit
Hyatt also revealed additions of luxury brands like Alila and Park Hyatt to The Edit by Chase Travel. The Edit represents Chase’s high-end hotel booking service.
When making bookings through The Edit, cardholders can enjoy benefits such as:
- Daily breakfast for two
- Room upgrades in select hotels (subject to availability)
- Early check-in and late check-out options
- Special perks worth up to $100 (varies by hotel, often includes meals, spa treatments, and transportation)
- Complimentary Wi-Fi where available
Furthermore, booking through The Edit allows cardholders to earn hotel loyalty points and elite night credits, which can be especially useful for those holding elite status with the loyalty program.
Additionally, Sapphire Reserve and Reserve for Business cardholders will receive up to $500 in yearly statement credits for prepaid bookings of two or more nights through The Edit (two $250 credits are available each year until December 31, 2025; from January 1, 2026, credits can be used anytime within the year).
New Co-Branded Card Expected
Hyatt and Chase are also set to enhance their current co-branded credit card options. While precise details are unclear, speculation hints at a more premium card for frequent Hyatt visitors, possibly featuring benefits like complimentary Explorer status and access to club lounges. A no-annual-fee option may also be introduced for travelers less inclined to frequent Hyatt properties.
Looking Ahead
For Sapphire Reserve and business cardholders, 2026 looks promising. With the introduction of mid-tier World of Hyatt Explorer status and more luxury brands joining The Edit, cardholders will have fresh and exciting options. Plus, the anticipated co-branded credit card is on the horizon, aimed at enhancing the travel experience further.
