House Democrats seek a recorded interview with Andrew Mountbatten Windsor regarding Epstein

Democrats on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee have recently urged Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, to answer questions regarding his connection with Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender and disgraced financier.

In a letter to him, House Democrats requested recordings of interviews involving Andrew that pertain to Epstein’s sex trafficking activities for the sake of justice for Epstein’s victims.

The committee expressed a desire to uncover the identities of Epstein’s associates and to gain a clearer understanding of his criminal dealings. They suggested that Andrew’s close ties to Epstein, along with accusations against him, imply he might hold crucial information relevant to their investigation.

The letter outlined that Andrew had traveled with Epstein to various locations, including Epstein’s New York residence, the royal estate in Balmoral, Scotland, and his private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where it is alleged that he abused a minor.

Additionally, it referenced a 2011 email exchange where Andrew indicated, “We are in this together,” reinforcing the belief that he might know significant details about Epstein’s crimes and those who aided him.

The correspondence touched on Virginia Giuffre’s claims against Andrew, mentioning that she was seventeen at the time and voiced fears of retaliation if she spoke out. They highlighted her autobiography, which alluded to this concern.

The lawmakers noted that recent reports confirmed these worries, mentioning that UK law enforcement is investigating claims that Andrew tasked a security officer in 2011 with gathering damaging information against Giuffre. They emphasized that fear of retaliation often hinders many victims seeking justice.

House Democrats set a deadline for Andrew to respond to their letter by November 20. The letter received signatures from several committee members, including Rep. Robert Garcia, Rep. Ro Khanna, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Rep. Ayanna Pressley, Rep. Latifa Simon, and Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton.

In a statement, Garcia mentioned that for too long, powerful individuals have evaded justice, asserting that Prince Andrew has a chance here to be transparent and support the victims. He emphasized that committee members will continue advocating for accountability regarding Epstein and his affiliates.

Recently, King Charles III officially removed Andrew’s title, stripping him of ‘His Highness’ and ‘Duke of York.’ Following an announcement on October 30, Andrew was also instructed to vacate his Royal Lodge residence.

Giuffre, who tragically died by suicide in April, had alleged that she was drawn into Epstein’s sex trafficking ring and claimed Andrew exploited her.

Last week, Giuffre’s brother Skye Roberts shared with the BBC that the family appreciated the king’s decision, expressing that his sister had metaphorically “beaten him down.” He concluded by stating, “She would be so proud.”
