Soccer Star Lionel Messi Thanks God for His Successes

Messi Reflects on Divine Gift in Soccer

In a recent interview, Lionel Messi, the renowned Argentine soccer player, shared his views on the factors contributing to his success in the sport. He described his achievements as a blend of natural talent and hard work, while emphasizing that he believes God has played a significant role in his life.

Messi, who now resides in Miami and plays for Inter Miami, indicated that while raw talent is essential, it must be nurtured. He conveyed that without divine guidance, his efforts might not have led to such extraordinary success. When asked about whether champions are “born or made,” Messi’s response included a heartfelt acknowledgment of God’s influence in his career.

“I’ve always believed that God granted me a gift. He chose me. This has been part of my life since childhood,” Messi explained. He noted that while many individuals show potential in soccer, becoming a professional demands immense sacrifices—something he has always aimed for. His gratitude towards God is evident, as he considers this divine blessing to be vital to his journey.

Messi’s reputation as arguably the greatest football player is well-founded. Over his distinguished career, particularly with FC Barcelona, he has set numerous records and led the Argentine national team to win the World Cup in 2022. His accolades include eight Ballon d’Or titles, an Olympic gold medal, and triumphs in various tournaments.

Apart from his talents on the field, Messi is known for his close-knit family values and deep faith. He famously met Pope Francis during a trip to Rome, where he received blessings alongside national teams from Argentina and Italy.

Pope Francis, a known soccer enthusiast, remarked that while calling Messi a “god” might be seen as blasphemous in a traditional sense, he acknowledges the admiration fans have for him, describing it as just a way people express their appreciation.

After leading Argentina to their third FIFA World Cup title, Messi shared about his spiritual reflections, clarifying that he often prays before significant moments. “I always ask God about everything,” he mentioned, expressing how he felt the divine presence during that pivotal time in his career. “I’m thankful every day for what I have received from Him. It’s a blessing,” he said.

In a podcast from last year, Messi reiterated his belief in being chosen by God, saying, “I am certain I was meant to be this way.” He reflected on how he worked tirelessly to harness his skills, acknowledging that his success stems from being gifted at an early age.

The interview took place at the American Business Forum in Miami, an event designed to bring together influential figures from various fields, including sports and politics. Alongside Messi, other notable attendees included President Donald Trump, who discussed his economic policies and achievements during his tenure.

With speakers like Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and athletes such as Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal expected to share the stage, the forum aims to foster insights into both business and personal experiences.
