Kazakhstan Joins Abraham Accords
Kazakhstan is set to become the latest nation to join the Abraham Accords, with President Donald Trump suggesting that other countries may follow suit soon.
Trump shared on social media that he had a productive phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. He expressed enthusiasm about Kazakhstan being the first to join the accords during his second term, hinting at more nations anticipated to join as well.
This development marks a significant advance in global diplomacy. More countries, it seems, are keen on promoting peace and collaboration. A formal signing ceremony will be announced soon. The hope is that by bringing nations together, stability and growth can be achieved. “Blessed are those who make peace!” he added.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio underscored the importance of this announcement, asserting that the American public has a steadfast advocate in Trump. He noted Trump’s ongoing influence as a negotiator and expressed gratitude towards Kazakhstan for backing the efforts aimed at global peace.
Former Senior Advisor Steve Witkoff mentioned to Breitbart News that there’s considerable interest from four to six other countries to join the accords within the next few months. Lebanon, Syria, Libya, Armenia, and Azerbaijan were all mentioned as potential candidates. Notably, Saudi Arabia is still viewed as a critical participant, with discussions ongoing.
Mike Huckabee, former Governor of Arkansas and Ambassador to Israel, discussed the prospects for future participants during a Breitbart roundtable. He cited Syria, Lebanon, and possibly Saudi Arabia as likely future members, drawing attention to the economic improvements that the UAE has experienced since normalizing relations with Israel.
Additionally, Rubio recently met with Syrian Interim President Ahmed Al-Sharaa at the United Nations General Assembly to talk about counterterrorism and sanctions. Although Sharaa acknowledged the current impracticality of the accords for Syria due to security conflicts, he expressed a desire for lifted sanctions to foster a better investment climate.
Looking ahead to the November 2024 elections and a potential second term in January 2025, Trump indicated he remains committed to advancing the Abraham Accords after releasing hostages tied to a recent ceasefire, suggesting at an earlier Saudi-US Investment Forum that Saudi Arabia would join “in its own time.” The initial signing between Israel, Bahrain, and the UAE took place in September 2020.
Ahmed al-Sharaa is expected to visit the White House soon, accompanied by Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who’s scheduled for a November 18th visit.
