17-Year-Old Arrested for Murder of 61-Year-Old Woman
A 17-year-old was arrested on May 5, suspected of murdering a 61-year-old woman found dead on April 21.
Local news outlet Las Vegas Review-Journal identified the suspect as Dennis Geiger, a high school student previously known for behavioral issues. He allegedly killed Marceline Biasini, who was noted to regularly sleep in the area where her body was discovered.
Biasini was discovered lying on a sidewalk outside a store, with visible injuries shortly after 8 a.m. on April 21, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Surveillance footage captured a brief encounter around midnight involving the suspect and the victim, showing Geiger approaching her location before leaving about a minute later. The Review-Journal highlighted that the footage didn’t depict the actual crime, but it recorded what sounded like a loud scream followed by numerous loud bangs.
“While the specific crime scene was somewhat concealed from view, audio and video captured the suspect nearing Marceline’s location, then moments later, there were screams, followed by about 61 loud bangs,” the report stated.
Police determined that the woman had been assaulted during the night, as per a statement to FOX News Digital. The coroner classified her death as a homicide due to blunt force trauma to the head.
Geiger reportedly has a history of anger management issues. He had been expelled from Valley High School in January for allegedly attempting to start a fire on campus and has since been attending online classes.
Additionally, police noted multiple incidents involving Geiger punching walls and cans in anger, leading him to enroll in anger management courses. Surveillance video from a nearby 7-Eleven reportedly showed the suspect in a red hoodie and Vans shoes—similar to what Geiger typically wore at school.
Further investigations revealed bloody shoe prints at the crime scene. It’s reported that a blood test on Geiger’s Vans yielded a presumptive positive result, although DNA tests are still pending.
Cops indicated that Geiger closely matched the suspect’s description, but he denied the charges, stating he was at the 7-Eleven with his brother between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. However, footage from the store showed him not inside at that time.
Geiger has not been convicted regarding Biasini’s death, and it remains unclear whether he has legal representation that could comment on his behalf. He is currently being held on a felony count of open murder, which doesn’t specify the degree of the charge.
