Kody Brown’s Struggles on Special Forces
Kody Brown faced some challenges during this week’s episode of Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test. The star, known for his role on TLC’s Sister Wives, seemed to struggle with connecting to other participants. When he was away, Brianna “Chicken Fry” LaPaglia commented on his difficulty fitting in, suggesting they should make an effort to include him to improve the group dynamic. Interestingly, the directing staff also expressed irritation with Kody, with one referring to him as “a bigger version of Chucky.”
Later, Kody opened up about his polygamous background, mentioning that he has 18 children from four wives, has been divorced three times, and has sworn off marriage for good. He described his upbringing as one where polygamy was central, reflecting on how his father also had multiple wives.
Kody Brown’s Marriages
Kody’s first marriage was to Meri Brown in 1990, and they share one child. While they divorced in 2014, they remained spiritually connected until Meri felt the need to leave the family in 2022. Three years after marrying Meri, he had a spiritual marriage with Janelle Brown, with whom he had six children. However, in 2022, it was confirmed that Janelle also ended that relationship.
Christine Brown became Kody’s third wife in 1994. They had six children together, but she announced that their emotional connection had faded in November 2021, citing the ongoing issues in their relationship. Finally, Robyn Brown is Kody’s fourth and current wife; they initially met in 2009, entered into a spiritual marriage, and then formalized their union in 2014. Kody has since adopted her three children from a previous marriage, and they have two additional children together.
The Estrangement from His Children
Kody’s relationship with some of his children has become strained for several reasons. He noted that there was “discord” linked to the divorces, which led to a breakdown in communication. He admits that he doesn’t feel a strong bond with many of his kids, describing a feeling of disappointment. Some believe he has favored Robyn’s children, which he also acknowledged has caused issues. Kody reflected on his struggles as a father, admitting that he has contradicted himself and didn’t know how to properly foster those relationships.
“At this point, I recognize I was wrong,” he said. “My shortcomings stem from a lack of understanding about being a father and husband, and I didn’t want to accept that blame.”
