A football influencer from Louisiana has addressed rumors regarding an alleged affair with LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. A fabricated post on Facebook claimed they were spotted together in a hotel room, which she labeled as “fake.”
Peyton Chubre, 26, shared her thoughts in a video with her more than 200,000 followers on Instagram, stating, “I want to tackle some of the false information that’s been going around about me.” She then mentioned an article that claimed she was having an affair with Nussmeier the night before one of his games.
Initially, Toubre thought little of the post, brushing it off as untrue and undeserving of attention, especially since it had only garnered about 30 likes. “Honestly, I hoped it would fade away,” she remarked.
However, the rumors only intensified from there. She recounted how someone had sent her another article suggesting that Nussmeier had sent unsolicited photos that made someone uncomfortable. “If you look at my social media, you’ll see I don’t post anything of that nature,” Toubre clarified.
She emphasized the falsehood of the claims, stating, “It’s just fake, it’s all fake,” before concluding her video. The rumors arose months after Nussmeier proposed to his hometown girlfriend, Ella Springfield, in July.
Nussmeier, 23, had an impressive 2024 season, achieving career-high numbers with 4,052 passing yards and 29 touchdowns. He announced his decision to return to LSU for a fifth year, expressing a desire to win a national championship with the team.
The situation unfolds during a challenging season for LSU, as the team recently fired head coach Brian Kelly. The Tigers currently hold a record of 5-3, having faced losses to Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M.
Now under interim head coach Frank Wilson, the Tigers are preparing for an upcoming game against Alabama, a point Toubre mentioned in her video comments. She criticized the page that posted the rumor, saying, “They claim to support LSU, but sharing this during Bama Week feels like sabotage.”
Support from her followers has poured in, with fans commending her for addressing the rumors. One fan encouraged her, stating, “We always have your back, and we know you handle things with class.” Another added, “Haters will hate, trolls will troll. Aim higher.”
Another comment even speculated about the source of the articles, suggesting they could be generated by AI, reflecting on the peculiar nature of such claims.
