Patrick Bryant, Nancy Mace's former fiancé, sues over allegations of sexual assault.

The former fiancée of Representative Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) has initiated a lawsuit this week, claiming she, along with the estranged wife of a mutual acquaintance, fabricated sexual assault allegations against him.

Patrick Bryant’s lawsuit, filed on Thursday, asserts that the accusations brought against him by Jane Doe in a prior May lawsuit are untrue. The original claim stated that Doe was assaulted by someone else at Eric Bowman’s residence back in 2018, and that this incident was filmed. Mace reportedly referred to this occurrence in her speech on the House floor earlier this year.

In the new suit, Bryant contends that he is the only victim, alleging that Mace conspired with Bowman’s estranged spouse to fabricate a story regarding the assault involving Doe, who had previously worked for Bryant. Bryant further alleges that Doe’s May lawsuit stemmed from Mace’s false accusations, noting how the Republican lawmaker had suspicions of infidelity on Bryant’s part during their relationship and even attempted to hack into his phone. They ended their relationship in November 2023.

Bryant’s lawsuit claims that Mace and Bowman’s estranged wife, who knew both parties, persuaded Jane Doe that she had discovered a video of her being “gang raped” on Bryant’s phone. The complaint notes that Doe claimed she couldn’t recall what happened or anything that was said during that time, while Mace allegedly insisted she had proof.

The complaint states, “What Mace did not tell Doe was that Mace fabricated an entirely false story about the assault in order to blackmail Bryant, gain influence in the separation process, and attempt to destroy Bryant for personal gain.”

Currently, Bryant is suing for defamation, invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

In response, Mace took to social media, saying, “I just saw a third-party complaint from Patrick Bryant. It’s as if this suspected rapist and voyeur is trying to write me another check. I just sanctioned him in court, and rape victim Jane Doe and I are still waiting for him to pay our legal fees after he used his weapon against us in court.”

She added that they plan to file a motion to counter his claims of abuse of process and conspiracy, along with demanding increased attorney fees.
