Crowds Gather at Turning Point USA Event Despite Rain
According to reports, thousands are expected at the Turning Point USA event at the University of Mississippi, featuring speakers like Vice Chancellor J.D. Vance and Erika Kirk discussing “America Report.”
Texas is stepping up, joining Oklahoma and Florida, in ensuring that every high school and college has a Turning Point USA chapter. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick mentioned in a recent social media post that he spoke with Turning Point leadership about expanding these chapters across Texas.
Patrick is backing this initiative with a $1 million pledge to kickstart new Turning Point USA chapters in the state.
Planned Speaking Engagements
On Tuesday, Patrick and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton will address students at the University of Houston, with the event sponsored by the local TPUSA chapter.
In a personal note, Patrick recalled fond memories with a friend, sharing a moment from the 2017 Trump inauguration that inspired his commitment to the initiative. He expressed a desire for others to contribute, even in small ways, to honor sacrifices made for their beliefs.
Support for Patrick’s re-election is considerable, including a significant backing from former President Donald Trump, who has raised over $33 million.
Legal Actions and Growing Requests
In Florida, state officials have vowed to take legal steps against any efforts to hinder TPUSA chapters on campuses. Following the recent assassination of Kirk, TPUSA has garnered significant visibility, highlighted by its discussions at Utah Valley University.
Patrick remarked on Kirk’s mission to empower students to advocate for freedom, free markets, and limited government. His bold approach won him many followers.
Since Kirk’s passing, there have been over 135,000 requests to establish TPUSA chapters, indicating a surge in interest across various campuses. Paige Rasmussen, a representative for TPUSA in Texas, noted that this growth is unprecedented.
Florida and Oklahoma are also moving forward with plans to implement TPUSA chapters in all high schools and colleges, with Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis advocating for new Club America chapters statewide.
Following the tragic events, an increasing number of students from high schools and colleges nationwide are eager to launch their own TPUSA chapters.
