A transgender individual accused of exposing themselves in a women’s locker room allegedly “humiliated” gym members and claimed they weren’t actually a woman, according to a musician who confronted them.
Grammy-nominated artist Tish Hyman remarked, “It’s no big deal, you’re not.”
Hyman, an openly lesbian musician who moved to Los Angeles in 2010, shared a video of her heated exchange with transgender woman Alexis Black at Gold’s Gym in Beverly Hills, a location recently acquired by EōS Fitness.
Black, formerly known as Kyle Grant Freeman, was sentenced to a year in prison in 2022 for violently assaulting his ex-wife, who required surgery after suffering a broken jaw.
The now 31-year-old Black had a notable criminal history, including previous domestic violence charges and drug trafficking convictions.
Curiously, after undergoing a gender transition earlier this year, Black chose to take on his ex-wife’s name, Alexis.
Hyman, now 42, started training at Gold’s Gym two years ago to improve her health and enjoyed the supportive community of women there.
The issue began when Hyman asked a transgender individual to leave the women’s locker room, as she felt uncomfortable in their presence while undressing.
“I feel traumatized being disrespected and naked in front of a man. I haven’t done that in 30 years. I’m a lesbian,” she expressed.
Black, who is still undergoing transition and retains male genitalia, allegedly responded harshly, calling her a “bitch.”
Looking back, Hyman said she was shocked by the situation, recalling, “What the hell is going on?”
After attempting to avoid seeing Black, she ended up encountering them again the next day in a sauna, where Black reportedly barged in and confronted her directly.
Hyman described the tension escalating, leading to staff intervention as they shouted at each other. After filing reports about the incident, she noted Black’s troubling comments, which included a suggestion that women enjoyed watching him in the locker room.
“I couldn’t believe it. No woman would ever say something like that,” Hyman added.
Despite Hyman raising concerns, the gym staff claimed they had no choice under California law but to allow Black access to the women’s locker room.
After more confrontations, including a particularly distressing incident where Black threatened her yet again, Hyman decided to post a video calling out Black’s behavior, which quickly gained attention online.
Following the filming, both Hyman and Black were removed from the gym, and their memberships were revoked. Hyman’s representative mentioned that the gym later considered reinstating her membership but had yet to provide written confirmation.
EōS Fitness has not publicly addressed the matter or responded to media inquiries, despite growing backlash.
Footage captured by a bystander showed Hyman passionately discussing the situation with gym staff before exiting the facility.
Black denied any wrongdoing, insisting they were fully clothed during the incidents, and argued that they felt victimized by being asked to use different locker facilities.
Since the altercation went viral, Black has not responded to requests for comment.
Hyman shared that she is now training at a new gym and reassured followers about the facilities there, emphasizing her desire for everyone’s safety, including transgender individuals.
She clarified that she has nothing against the transgender community and aims to support safer spaces for all.
