Daron Payne of the Commanders is suspended for one game.

During a recent game against the Detroit Lions, Washington Commanders defensive lineman Daron Payne was ejected for throwing a punch at wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. Following the incident, the NFL announced a one-game suspension for Payne.

The altercation took place in the second quarter after Lions running back Jahmil Gibbs scored, extending Detroit’s lead to 22-3. Shortly thereafter, Payne was seen reacting aggressively toward St. Brown. Additionally, Commanders lineman Javon Kinlaw was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct amidst the skirmish.

Fans expressed frustration over Payne’s behavior, arguing that as an experienced player in the league, he should know better than to resort to punches, especially against someone wearing a helmet. Kinlaw, providing insight after the game, claimed that St. Brown had struck Payne first, noting that in sports, typically the retaliator faces the consequences.

“That’s a bull—, 100 percent,” Kinlaw remarked regarding the situation.

In a broader context, the Lions had a commanding performance against the Commanders, leading 25-10 at halftime and eventually winning 44-22. Jared Goff impressively threw for 320 yards and three touchdown passes, while Gibbs contributed significantly with three total touchdowns and 142 rushing yards.

With this latest outcome, Detroit improved its record to 6-3, while Washington dropped to 3-7.
