Tragic Incident in Harlem: Mother Stabbed by Ex-Boyfriend
A mother was brutally attacked and left for dead by her ex-boyfriend in a Harlem building. This horrifying event unfolded early Monday morning as she was ambushed, pleading with him not to hurt her, according to sources and witnesses.
The 47-year-old mother, whose identity has not been disclosed, was stabbed multiple times in a bloodied hallway of a six-story rental apartment building on West 129th Street. Witnesses mentioned that she was found screaming her attacker’s name.
It was around 4:25 a.m. when a porter stumbled upon the woman, who was covered in blood and gasping for breath near the elevator on the third floor. He immediately called 911.
Ryron Middleton, who was cleaning stairs, recognized the victim, noting that she had a teenage son with autism.
“When I approached her, I saw blood everywhere. I thought it was just someone lying on the floor,” Middleton shared.
Paramedics soon arrived and rushed the seriously injured woman to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, but unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries.
Middleton mentioned that her boss had attempted to show her the surveillance footage of the attack, but she couldn’t handle it, choosing instead to just listen to the audio.
“She was screaming someone’s name during the incident,” he recalled. “She kept saying, ‘Lewis, Lewis, Lewis. Stop, Lewis, stop!’”
Police viewing the video reported that the attacker stabbed the victim in the face, head, and neck, with estimates suggesting he could have stabbed her about 50 times.
Ms. Middleton explained that her assailant had likely been waiting for her, sitting on the building stairs for around two hours before attacking.
Authorities have a male suspect, identified as the victim’s ex-boyfriend, in custody, though no charges had been filed as of Monday afternoon.
The building superintendent revealed that while the victim had four children, only two lived with her, while the older two resided in New Jersey.
“It’s really hard to believe this happened. They were good people; they really were,” the superintendent said. “It’s like our family.”
A nearby resident expressed sorrow over the event, highlighting the impact on her children. “I can’t believe this is happening. I’ve lived here for ten years, and nothing like this has ever gone down. It’s shocking,” the neighbor stated.
