Trump’s Take on Economic Concerns
On Monday, President Trump suggested that rising prices for various goods are being exaggerated by Democrats, whom he referred to as responsible for “crook jobs.”
This statement came during an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham. She questioned whether the economic fears reported by voters in New Jersey, Virginia, and New York—where Republicans faced recent election losses—are based on perception or if more action is needed from GOP lawmakers.
During his appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” Trump stated, “First and foremost, this is a fraud by the Democratic Party.”
He claimed that Democrats are spreading misinformation about the economy, which news outlets are amplifying to instill fear among voters. “They do exactly what they say they will do,” he remarked about TV news anchors, calling it “a rigged system.”
Ingraham pressed Trump, asking if he believed voters might be “misunderstanding how they feel” about the economy.
Trump responded, asserting, “They are being forced to do a fraudulent job.” Ingraham pointed out that while some prices, like eggs and gasoline, have dropped under his administration, others, including beef and auto repair services, have increased.
He countered, saying, “Of course, but they’re going to collapse quickly.”
The Consumer Price Index for September indicates that meat prices, particularly steak and ground beef, are up from last year, despite Trump’s claims.
Trump also expressed skepticism about polls that show Americans are worried about the economy. “So, are you ready?” he asked. “Costs have come down significantly. Gas will soon reach $2… it was less than $4.50 back then,” and he attributed some of these issues to Biden.
He insisted that “everyone agrees” that energy prices have declined since he took office.
Later in the discussion, Ingraham mentioned that “housing costs remain out of reach” for many. Trump responded by blaming his predecessor and stated, “That’s what I inherited,” adding, “The problem is that Biden did it.” He also criticized Biden for raising interest rates and took a jab at Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, saying, “I have a terrible person at the Fed who will be gone in a few months.”
Trump concluded with his doubt over the accuracy of polls showing economic anxiety among Americans, declaring, “I think the polls are fake,” and asserting, “We have the greatest economy ever.”
