Eagles Edge Out Packers in Low-Scoring Affair

The Philadelphia Eagles fought through a tough matchup on “Monday Night Football” to claim a narrow 10-7 victory. This win marked their return from a bye week, bringing their season record to 7-2. Conversely, the Green Bay Packers have now suffered consecutive home losses, dropping their record to 5-3-1.

This game was notable as it was the first NFL match to remain scoreless at halftime since December 2023, when the Houston Texans played against the New York Jets. It echoed the earlier matchup between the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders that kicked off Week 10.

The Eagles changed the scoreboard on their first drive of the second half. Jalen Hurts connected with Dallas Goedert several times, reaching the red zone. A setback on a third-and-long stalled the progress, but it resulted in a 39-yard field goal from Jake Elliott, putting the Eagles up 3-0.

Despite the slow-paced game, that 3-0 lead felt significant. The Eagles managed to score a touchdown in the fourth quarter after Saquon Barkley caught a short pass on third-and-7. He communicated with Hurts, hoping to eliminate a Packers defender before making a quick spin and sprinting down the left sideline. With some help from AJ Brown, Barkley accomplished a 41-yard gain. Just moments later, Hurts threw a deep pass, which DeVonta Smith expertly caught for a 36-yard touchdown, extending the lead to 10-0.

The Packers pressed on, knowing they needed to make a comeback. Quarterback Jordan Love spearheaded an 11-play drive that concluded with a 6-yard touchdown run from Josh Jacobs, narrowing the score to 10-7.

Momentum seemed to shift when the Packers halted the Eagles, giving Love a final opportunity starting from their own 10-yard line. Facing a crucial fourth-and-one at their own 44-yard line, Jacobs fumbled under pressure, allowing the Eagles to recover. Even if Jacobs had succeeded, a penalty would have negated the play.

With time running out, Hurts aimed for a decisive touchdown pass to Brown, but underthrew it, leaving just a glimmer of hope for the Packers. Love promptly advanced the offense, setting up a remarkable 64-yard field goal attempt—potentially the longest in Lambeau Field history. Unfortunately for Green Bay, kicker Brandon McManus missed, which allowed the Eagles to celebrate their hard-fought win, even as frustration lingered among home fans.

In the game statistics, Love completed 19 of 32 passes for 158 yards. Jacobs rushed for 75 yards on 21 attempts. For the Eagles, Hurts was 15 of 26 for 183 yards, including one touchdown and 27 yards rushing, while Barkley racked up 60 rushing yards on 22 carries alongside a crucial catch-and-run. Smith led all receivers with four receptions totaling 69 yards and scored the game’s only touchdown.
